Alcohol abuse increased the risk of pancreatic cancer
The latest study found that, although epidemiological studies do not support drinking is the cause of pancreatic cancer, but alcohol can lead to increased risk of pancreatic cancer incidence.
Sweden LuoLinSiKa Institute, Dr W Ye and his colleagues on the years 1965-1994 due to alcoholism (178,688 cases), chronic alcoholic pancreatitis (3,500 cases), non-alcoholic chronic pancreatitis (4,952 cases), alcoholic Cirrhosis (13,553 cases) and non-alcoholic cirrhosis (7,057 cases) of the patients had pancreatic cancer risk analysis.
The results showed that drinking only to the risk of pancreatic cancer increased 40% (SIR: 1.4,95% confidence interval (CI) :1.2-1 .5). Drinkers in the more smokers, drinkers might confuse the true SIR, to reach about 1.4. Alcoholic patients with chronic pancreatitis the SIR (2.2,95% CI :0.9-4 .5) was significantly lower than non-alcoholic chronic pancreatitis patients (8.7,95% CI :6.8-10 .9); two groups of patients with follow-up time of the SIR Extend lower, suggesting that cancer is not diagnosed the cause of its impact on the increase.
The researchers pointed out that alcoholic cirrhosis of pancreatic cancer in patients with moderately elevated risk of (SIR: 1.9,95% CI :1.3-2 .8), rather than alcohol in patients with cirrhosis of the danger of not increased significantly (SIR: 1.2 , 95% CI :0.6-2 .2).
Dr. Ye, drinkers in the risk of pancreatic cancer may appear slightly higher.
